My Dream Universe

I would love to live in the universe of the book and show, The Summer I Turned Pretty. I would love to live in the summer house at Cousins beach that Belly and her family and family friends live in during the summer. It seems so fun to have a house right by the beach and have a pool in your backyard as well. Their porch seems so much fun to lay out and read on a beach chair. Also I want to walk around the pier and shop at the cute little shops. There are so many things to do in Cousins so I would probably never get tired of it. I would go out in the sun and read then once it gets too hot I would jump in the pool to cool off. I would also really want to pick some pretty flowers and just put them in a vase so everyone can look at them. This world will probably be very fun and peaceful so I would really enjoy living in it!

Rad Reading – September

In September, I read Family of Liars by E. Lockhart. This is the prequel, set twenty-seven years before, E. Lockhart’s other book We Were Liars. It is about the main character, Carrie who goes to her family’s private island each summer. Last summer Carries ten year old sister, Rosemary drowned but everyone is avoiding their grief. Carrie doesn’t want to forget about her sister though. So when this summer, Carries cousin, Yardley, invites her boyfriend, George, and his two friends, Lawrence and Major, Carrie doesn’t want to just have a fun summer with the boys when no one seems to even think about Rosemary. But when Carrie falls in love with one of the boys, the summer gets twisted with lies and secrets.

This book was even better than the original, We Were Liars. But if you want to read this you need to read We Were Liars first because there are spoilers in Family of Liars. I loved how this book gave a summery vibe so I still felt like it was summer when I was reading. It starts off a little slow but once it picks up you won’t want to put it down. I couldn’t guess a single plot twist and each one left me in shock. Despite this book being only 298 pages it still was very descriptive. The book also shows you a map of the island in the beginning of the book so you can really picture what’s happening in your head.

My favorite character was the main character, Carrie. I liked how she didn’t let people take advantage of her. One of her character traits was that she was very loyal to everyone. A quote to prove this would be, “‘Carrie saved me’“ This quote proves her loyalty because she kept her loyalty to her sister even though what she did to who was trying to hurt her sister could get her in serious trouble. Because of this Carrie is my favorite character.

My favorite quote from the book is “I aim to live a joyful life, Carrie. And I think you should, too. I think maybe you’ve lost track of that, a little.” This is my favorite quote because Carrie never really lived life to its fullest when her sister died and she had to get jaw surgery and I wish that Carrie would have been more happy and not just try to be good for her family.

The next book I read in September was, The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is the sequel to The Inheritance Games where seventeen year old Avery Kylie Grambs continues to try and figure out why recently deceased billionaire Tobias Hawthorne and leaves almost his whole fortune to her. But on one condition, Avery must live in Tobias Hawthornes house with his recently disinherited family for one year in order to receive the inheritance. Will she be able to figure out Tobias Hawthornes last puzzle, or will she put herself and others in danger along the way?

This book was amazing. I would recommend this series if you like fast paced mystery’s with romance as a sub plot. I liked how this book had really short chapters so it was a very quick read. There were so many plot twists that left me in shock and I didn’t expect at all. Even when I got to a predictable part it always turned around with a big twist. I can’t wait to read the third book!

My favorite character was the main character, Avery. I liked how she was humble about her inheritance and didn’t just go spending money. She wanted to give it to her family and friends. A character trait for Avery would be strong. A quote to prove this would be, “‘I’m not the glass ballerina,’ I said firmly. I’m not going to shatter.’” Avery proves her strength to Grayson by telling him that she is not the part of a game you just throw away. That she will stay strong and not break under the pressure.

My favorite quote from the book is, “The trick to being abandoned was to never let yourself long for anyone who left.” This quote portrays how Avery really feels about her father abandoning her even after her mother died and how she doesn’t want her father back anymore, she is happier without him.

The final book I read in September is, Restart by Gordon Korman. This book is about Chase Ambrose who falls off his roof during the summer and loses his memory. But when he goes back to school people are either scared of him or admire him. This is set in multiple points of views of Chase, Chases friends and the people he bullied.

This book was okay. It was really easy to read because it is for a younger audience (I read it in 3rd grade). I found it kind of boring because the plot didn’t interest me. However I did like that the chapters and overall the whole book was very short. But the multiple points of views did make it a little more interesting though.

My favorite character was Shoshanna. I liked how she always stood up for her brother. A character trait to describe her would be loyal. I can prove this with the quote, “I’d rather lose all that time and throw away the best work I’ve ever done than have anything linking my name to Chase Ambrose.” This shows that she cares so much about her brother that she will get rid of her credit on the best work she’s ever done and stop being friends with Chase because of what he allegedly did to her brother.

My favorite quote from the book is, “As I run, hot tears of shame are streaming down my face. Since my accident, I’ve heard a lot about the person I used to be. Never did I imagine this. I sprint harder, accelerating onto the sidewalk, outpacing even the most intense drills from practice. It’s no problem escaping Aaron and Bear. But I’ll never be able to get away from myself.” I like this quote because it shows that no matter how much he changes himself his memory’s of his past will still haunt him.

My Favorite Meal

If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life there is one that I would want. For the main course I would want my dads chicken Alfredo pasta. I love the way my dad makes his Alfredo sauce from scratch with fresh parmesan cheese. It’s perfectly creamy and cheesy. He also cooks the chicken perfectly by using probes to see what the internal temperature is. He then chops it into small pieces so you can mix it into the pasta. He always cooks the pasta to a perfect al dente. I would want broccoli as one of the side dishes but I like to mix it into the pasta. I like broccoli to be cooked perfectly, not mushy but not hard. I also want it to have some salt and pepper on it to season it. Another side dish I would want is garlic bread. I love garlic toast on sourdough bread with lots of butter and garlic salt. For my drink I would want strawberry lemonade. I love the one from the brand Herbert’s or Simply Lemonade. It isn’t too sweet and it is very refreshing. For dessert I would want cheesecake. I love when it is creamy and sweet but also tart. And the gram cracker crust just ties the whole thing together making it a delicious dessert. This would be my favorite meal.

My Dream Home

If I could design my own house it would be in Hawaii only a block or two away from the beach. The outside would be painted white and have black framed windows for some natural lighting. There would be some colorful flowers and green Hawaiian plants lining the perimeter of the front of the house and nice green grass on the lawn. When you walk in the front door there will be a bench to take off your shoes with storage underneath to put your shoes. Also there will be a big rectangle mirror above the bench. Once you walk past the front door there will be a large family room with a gray couch and a brown wooden coffee table with a tray for the remote and a green monstera plant on it. In front of the couch there will be a big flat screen tv. The kitchen will overlook the living room. It will be modern with big grey and white marble island. It will also have one of those fancy tech fridges. The house will have four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master bedroom will be modern and have a balcony with a beautiful view. It will also have a huge comfy bed and a walk in closet. The master bathroom will have a big bathtub with jets, a huge shower, a separate toilet room and two sinks with cabinets underneath. Two of the bedrooms will be connected with a bathroom. The bathroom will also have two sinks, a toilet, and a shower. The bedrooms will be designed by whoever’s bedroom it is but they will each have a bay window. The guest bedroom will be boho themed and will have a bathroom attached to it. You’ll get to the backyard through a glass screen door in the living room or through the side gate from the front yard. The backyard will have a shed for pool supplies and other things. There will be a big pool with a built in rock slide and a hot tub. There will be a big grassy area and I would put a big rectangle trampoline there. There will still be lots of grass space though! That would be my dream home if I could design a house for myself.

My Dream Vacation

If I could travel anywhere on planet Earth it would be the Bahamas. I would love to travel here for 3 reasons. My first reason is that I want to go to all the pretty beaches. One of my favorite animals is pigs and in the Bahamas you can swim with them at Big Major Cay, which is known as Pig Beach. Cape Santa Maria Beach, Long Island is another beach that I would want to go to. This beach is very pretty and has beach houses right on the beach that I would want to stay in. Another reason I want to go to the Bahamas is to go zip lining and see the mountains. I went zip lining in Hawaii and it was very fun and seeing the nature below me was very pretty. I imagine it will be like this in the Bahamas too. There are 37 named mountains in the Bahamas but I would want to go to the most highest mountain in the Bahamas, Mount Alvernia. This mountain is 207 feet high. My final reason for wanting to go to the Bahamas is to shop. I would want to buy souvenirs from local shops by the beaches. I would also want to go to an outdoor mall to shop as well. This is why I want to go to the Bahamas.
