Hi, my name is Kendall, and for my 20% percent project I am learning how to crochet. This week my goal was to get all of the needed materials, watch videos on how to crochet, and practice crocheting. I accomplished my goal and also found a pattern for dog sweater that I want to crochet. I found and watched videos on YouTube of different techniques so I could see how it should look as I go along. I struggled a little when I first got started but then started to get the hang of it. I kept forgetting how to start a new row but I watched a tutorial on YouTube so I could figure out how to do it. Next week, I want to continue practicing crocheting and maybe start crocheting the dog sweater based on the pattern I found online. Crocheting has been really fun and I am so happy that I chose this for my project. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog! See you next week!

If I could have any job in the world, it would be a lawyer. To start, I wanna be a lawyer so I could help prove that innocent people are innocent. I don’t think anyone wants to be wrongfully imprisoned, but if you don’t have a good lawyer you might be. So, I would do my best to help prove people’s innocence based off the evidence in the case. It would also be really cool that I would be able to see a criminal in prison on tv and know that I helped get the victim justice. My second reason is that I would make a lot of money. The average salary of a lawyer is $93,918. If I made all that money I would be able to live a good, comfortable life. I would have a nice house and still have some money to be able to go shopping. Also, most lawyers are offered additional benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance. Most lawyers are also given a lot of paid time off which would be nice so I could go on vacations. My final reason is that I like arguments. I don’t like losing arguments so I would try very hard to win for my client. I also like to have proof when winning an argument and lawyers have all the evidence to use to their advantage. This is why being a lawyer is my dream job.

One thing I did this spring break was went shopping with my family. I wanted to go shopping to get new clothes for spring and summer since it is going to get warmer. The first weekend, I went to The Outlets of Orange with my parents, siblings, and my aunt. There are lots of stores there, and they are outlets so there are a lot of sales and deals. I went into lots of stores such as Hollister, American Eagle, Crocs, Bath & Body Works and some other stores. I picked out some things for my birthday that my mom is going to wrap and give to me on my birthday. My aunt also bought me some gifts and she let me have them early since she lives a few hours away and only drives down here every couple of months. We didn’t stay too long though, because it was raining and we didn’t bring any umbrellas. The next weekend, I went to the Irvine Spectrum with my mom, my grandma, my sister, and my cousin who lives in Colorado. We always go to the Spectrum when my cousin comes down since it is very fun. I went into many stores such as Brandy Melville, Lululemon, Hollister, Pura Vida, H&M, Barnes & Noble, and a few other stores. I got some more things for my birthday and also spent some of my gift cards from Christmas. It was very fun to shop with my family during spring break.

This month I read The Girl In the White Van by April Henry. Everyone thought she ran away, but what really happened? Savannah moved to a new town 8 months ago. Although, she is having trouble fitting in. Until she sees people doing Kung Fu in a class and thinks it looks like fun. She starts taking the class to see if she likes it. One night, as she’s leaving to go to Kung Fu class, she gets into a fight with her moms boyfriend who thinks that the Kung Fu class is a waste of time. She runs out of the house crying on her way to class and thinks she hears someone following her. But, when she keeps turning around to look, no one’s there. She makes it to class and stays late to help clean up. When she decides to head home, someone knocks her out from behind. She gets put into a white van. The van stops at an rv park where he puts her in an rv. But, when she gets in there, there’s another girl, Jenny. Will Savannah and Jenny be able to escape?

I really liked this book. It was really fast paced and had an interesting plot that made me not want to put it down. It was told from many characters perspective so you knew what was happening to Jenny and Savannah and what was happing to their family and friends. I also liked how the plot picked up at the very beginning of the book. It was also very descriptive so it was easy to picture the setting.

My favorite character was Savannah. I liked how she always knew what she liked and wanted. I also liked how she encouraged Jenny when they were trying to escape. A character trait she has is strong willed. A quote that would prove this would be “As Tim reached for me, I yanked open my front door and ran out. When his fingers grazed my shoulders, I twisted away in midair. Fear gave my feet wings.“ This quote shows how even though she was scared of Tim hurting her, she was brave enough and strong enough to find the courage to run away from him.

My favorite quote from this book is “If there is always light, you don’t experience light anymore. You have to have the rhythm of light and darkness.” I like this quote because it shows that if only good things happen to you they won’t have as much meaning anymore. But, if a mix of both bad and good things happen to you, you will appreciate the good things way more.

I have been turned invisible for twenty-four hours by a magician. But, I am able to turn it on and off whenever I want. First, I would jump on someone’s car to get a ride to the bank. I would then go into the back and prints millions of dollars. So I would have lots of money to buy stuff at The Irvine Spectrum. I would then hop on someone’s car to go there. Once I get there, I would hop off the car and just go straight in. I wouldn’t even need to waste time finding a parking spot. I would turn my invisibility off so I could go into stores. I would go into Brandy Melville, Target, Lululemon, Hollister, Barnes & Noble, Pacsun, Pura Vida, Sephora, American Eagle, and Apple since those are my favorite stores. I would use the money I printed to buy whatever I wanted. After I bought everything I wanted, I would go back to being invisible and hop on another car for a free ride. I would hop off the car once they drove past Canes. I would then make myself visible again and buy some food to eat with the money I printed. After, I was finished eating I would hop onto another car and hop off when they go by my house. I would then stay home and relax since I was so tired from the day.

This month I read Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus. This book follows Ellery who has just moved to a small town called Echo Ridge to live with her grandmother. Ellery’s aunt disappeared from Echo Ridge 17 years ago when she was teen, and still hasn’t been found. It also follows Malcom whose brother is thought to be the killer of his girlfriend, a teen who went missing and then was found murdered a couple years ago. Then another girl goes missing, and Malcom and Ellery become friends to try to figure out what is happening to all these girls. But, will trying to get justice for these girls put themselves in danger?

I really liked this book. It had many twists and turns that I was not expecting. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I also really liked the setting because I like when books take place in small towns. It gives the book a homey feel because everyone knows everyone and it’s like a big family. Karen M. McManus is a very good writer and her books always keep me guessing. I would really recommend this book.

My favorite character was Ellery. She was very fun to read about and her history was interesting. A character trait she has is smart. A quote that would prove how smart she is would be, “All of Fright Farm’s success is based on how much people love to be scared in a controlled environment. There’s something deeply satisfying about confronting a monster and escaping unscathed. Real monsters aren’t anything like that. They don’t let go.” This shows how she is wise enough to understand why people like to be scared when it’s fake but once it becomes real it is impossible to escape the fear.

My favorite quote from this book is, “When you come into the world with another person, they’re as much a part of you as your heartbeat.” I like this quote because it shows how much Ellery cares about her twin brother, Ezra. They were really close and like best friends to each other as they solved the mystery together along with Malcom.

It was a very hot and sunny summer day in Arizona when Sammy the sloth decided to take a trip to the baby animal zoo. She slowly walked to her car, eating a potato for breakfast as she went. After the 20 minute, 10 meter walk to her car, she drove off to the zoo. She arrived quickly thanks to the speed of her car and went up to the ticket booth to purchase a ticket.
“Would you like to buy a season pass?” the lady at the ticket booth asked. “No… thank… you…,” Sammy slowly said, “just… a… one… day… ticket… please…,”.
The lady handed her her ticket and she entered the zoo. She headed toward the cage with the baby koalas and watched as a zoo keeper entered the cage to feed them. The zoo keeper handed them leaves and they munched on them cutely. She then headed to the baby farm animals section of the zoo and looked at the pigs, cows, and chicks. Once she had looked at almost all the baby animals, she decided to head home. Sammy and such a fun day at the zoo!

I live on a deserted island. Your probably wondering how I ended up here. Well, me and my friend Ashlee decided to go on a boat ride. We were driving around on her private boat when we saw this island. We stopped here to explore and eat lunch. While we were exploring, we discovered a cave. We went inside and it was beautiful, there were really cool rocks and crystals. As we were leaving the cave, a big rock fell from the roof of the cave. I tripped trying to run out and the rock pinned me down by my feet. Ashlee tried for hours to move the rock, but she wasn’t strong enough. So, we decided that she should go back to the main island and get help. After she left, I kept trying to get out from the rock and I did it. I was free. But, no one ever came back. I don’t know if Ashlee ever made back to the main island, or if she just couldn’t find the island I’m on. That was two weeks ago. Now, your probably wondering how I survive on the island and what I do every day. First, I wake up from my bed made out of palm tree leaves. Then I look for some berries on the island to eat for breakfast. After I eat my berries, I go to the shore to fish so I can have something to eat for lunch. I catch a few fish then go to the fire pit I made. I rub two sticks together to make a fire. I then spear the fish onto another stick and put it over the fire to cook it. After the fish is evenly cooked, I eat it for lunch. Then I go for a swim in the ocean. The water is very nice and calm if you don’t go to far out. I swim for around an hour before I lie out on the beach to dry off. After that, I hunt for a wild rabbit to eat for dinner. When I finally find one I use a makeshift spear that I made to catch it. I cook it on my fire and eat the roasted rabbit for dinner. Lastly, I go to my bed and watch the stars until I fall asleep. That is what I do everyday. The island isn’t small but it isn’t very big either. There’s a small cave on the east side of the island that I go in whenever there is a storm. There are palm trees all over the island that provide me with palm leaves and coconuts. There are also various bushes filled with yummy berries. Although it gets a little lonely here on this island, I’m kind of learning to like it here.

I was told to pick one quote that I relate to from Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series. I chose the quote, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.” To me, this quote means that even if your really sad, someone will be able to cheer you up. Also, I think it might mean that you should be optimistic in hard situations and not just look at the bad side of a situation. I relate to this quote because when something happens that makes me sad, it helps to look for the good in it. I also like to comfort people when their sad and help them see that it will be okay. This is why I really relate too and like this quote from Dumbledore.

My hero is my mom. I really admire her and I will be sharing three reasons why I chose her as my hero. To start, she is very hard working. She always works super hard at work so me and my siblings can have a great life. Instead of spending her time after work doing hobby’s she likes to do for fun, she helps me and my siblings with our homework, or makes us a snack. She also always makes holidays very special by planning out things to do. The next reason I see her as my hero is, that she is very patient. My mom works at a children’s hospital so she spends her days helping kids and when she comes home she has to help her own kids with things. My brothers always want her to get them a snack as soon as she gets home but she’s very patient with them and tells them to wait. I also really like how she doesn’t get very mad when me or one of my siblings doesn’t understand what she’s asking. My final reason is that she is very kind. She is kind to people even if she doesn’t like them very much. She also gives people compliments a lot and makes people feel better when their sad. This is why I really look up to my mom.
